What does a Jackson Pollock painting sound like? Flutist Elizabeth McNutt and ensemble present Sounds Modern, a concert exploring the intersections of art and music. In a new performance entitled "More direct, more immediate, more physical": music shaped by the art of Jackson Pollock, the ensemble will celebrate Pollock’s influence on music of the late 20th century. The performance will include selections by composers Earle Brown and Morton Feldman, both of whom were inspired by the spirit and artistic practice of the painter.
This event is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Earle Brown Music Foundation.
