Art Making

We offer a variety of art-making opportunities for adults that help stimulate creativity, including our monthly Make & Take program. Tap into your inner artist and check out upcoming programs below.

Make & Take
Join us for a casual art-making series for adults once a month. Highlighting a work of art in our collection or a special exhibition on view, this program will give you the time, tools, and freedom to explore your creativity and gain confidence in your creative abilities. No previous experience is necessary and all materials are provided.

For more information on our workshops for teens, visit our Teen Programs page. For more information on our workshops for kids and families, visit our Family Programs page.

Adult Workshops

Format: 9/27/22

Make & Take: Kinetic Sound Sculpture

Friday, October 21, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Activate your senses during Art Beyond Sight month with a whimsical kinetic sculpture. After exploring our exhibition Movement: The Legacy of Kineticism, arrange different components in interesting configurations to create a moving sculpture that will stimulate sight, touch, and sound.

Make & Take: Intuitive Creation, Poetry and Pictures

Friday, November 18, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Get in touch with your intuition in this program that unites visual and literary expression. In the exhibition Matthew Wong: The Realm of Appearances, poet Beth Honeycutt will lead you through a poetry-writing activity, while in the Art Studio, artists from The Art Room will guide you in creating a work of neurographic art that explores the mind-body connection as a method to illustrate and transform your inner world.

Make & Take: Gilded Frames

Friday, December 16, 5:30–8:30 p.m.

Add some glitz and glamour to your most precious memories with a gilded frame. Using imitation gold leaf and a binding agent, you will achieve the dazzling effects of ornamental metal frames that have been used to showcase works of art for over 4,000 years.

This program is drop-in and seating is first come, first served.

Please note that this program is geared toward adults. Families interested in creating together should see our Open Studio program.
