Batik Fabric-Making Workshop

Saturday, April 8, 1:00 p.m.

Inspired by the textiles in the exhibition Waxed: Batik from Java, join us to learn the history and techniques of batik fabric making. You will choose your own “urban” design from the surroundings in the Cultural District and learn how to dye fabric, draw in wax, and create your finished designed fabric sample.

Japanese Woodblock Printmaking

Saturday, May 20, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Join printmaker Daryl Howard to learn about the history of the Japanese woodblock print. Participants will have the opportunity to carve and print their own image using this ancient art form and learn more about the prints in our collection.
