Take an imaginary journey to the French countryside as we explore the world of Vincent van Gogh in this fun-filled day of activities for the entire family. Enjoy outdoor yoga, art making, plein-air sketching, and learning about nature from North Texas experts!

Please note: Due to the ongoing pandemic, the DMA will continue to follow COVID-19 health and safety protocols and policies, including social distancing requirements and capacity limitations. Some activities will have limited capacity and will function on a first come, first served basis.

Yoga with Stefanie
11:00 a.m.–noon, Ross Avenue Plaza
Start your morning off on the right foot! Join Stefanie Tovar for some relaxing and fun beginner-friendly yoga. Yoga mats and wipes are provided.

Meet and Make with an Artist: Shelley Hampe
11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m., Fleischner Courtyard
Drop by the Fleischner Courtyard for an outdoor sketching experience inspired by artists who painted en plein air. Join Shelley Hampe, Creative Arts Center Teaching Artist, for mini sketch lessons! In the event of inclement weather, this activity will be canceled.

Nature 101 with Chicana in Nature
11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., Main Entrance
Join Susana Cruz, Chicana in Nature, for a closer look at natural objects that can be found anywhere from your backyard to across the United States. 

Van Gogh and the Olive Groves Family Guide

Eager to learn more about Vincent van Gogh? Pick up a family guide for a closer look at four paintings on view in the Van Gogh and the Olive Groves exhibition.

Open Studio Art Kit Pick-Up
Noon–4:00 p.m., Main Entrance
Drop by the Museum to pick up a free art kit with supplies and instructions to complete a nature-inspired art project at home. Art kits are first come, first served and supplies are limited!

Van Gogh and the Olive Groves Coloring Book

Pick up a free coloring book inspired by artist Vincent van Gogh.

Meet and Make with an Artist: Dallas Art Therapy
Noon–2:00 p.m., Ross Avenue Plaza
Become one with nature as you weave a variety of flowers and foliage that correspond to different emotions. Meet art therapists from Dallas Art Therapy and contribute to a community loom!

Pop–Up Art Spot
1:00–4:00 p.m., Level 4 Landing
Looking for a hands-on experience in the DMA galleries? Visit the Pop–Up Art Spot on the Level 4 Landing for activities related to shapes, as well as a poetry activity, all inspired by nearby works of art.

Meet and Make with an Artist: Performance Installation with Christian Cruz
1:30–3:00 p.m., Fleischner Courtyard
In Plant a Thought with Christian Cruz, Cruz presents a visual metaphor as a flower sprouting from the dirt. She illustrates how overcoming obstacles can feel like being buried alive, but instead sets her mind on becoming a planted seed. She invites visitors to plant their own seed into the garden bed. Using the pencil and paper provided, stop in to write a thought you would like to blossom into reality!
