Why has the DMA installed automated parking?
Automated parking will ensure staff and visitors can enter, park, pay, and exit the garage more efficiently. The use of contactless payments supports the DMA's ability to offer cashless transactions. 
 
What are the hours of the DMA Garage?
Monday–Sunday, 10:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. (may exclude special events)
Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day
 
How much is parking at the DMA Garage? 
Underground parking is available in the Museum’s 400-space garage on a first-come, first-served basis for a flat fee of $15, payable at time of exit. Major credit cards are accepted. Garage parking for DMA Members and Nasher Sculpture Center Members is free, pending availability. 
 
How does automated parking work?
At Entry
Drive up to the entry ticket machine and press the red button for a ticket. Once the ticket is pulled, the gate will open for garage access. All guests should take their parking ticket with them depending on their destination. (Specific instructions for members below)
 
At Exit
There are two options to pay for parking when exiting:
  • Pay inside the Museum: There is one pay machine located next to the Guest Services Desk inside the Museum on Level 1. Once your ticket is paid or validated, it will be good until the garage closes that day.
  • Pay at garage exit: There are two pay machines located at the exit lanes of the garage. Pull up to the machine and place the ticket barcode below the scanner to be read. Once ticket is scanned the screen will display how much is owed and you can pay by cash or credit card. Once the ticket is paid, the gate will open. (Note: If applicable, you can also insert a validated ticket.)
 
After I park, should I take my parking ticket with me?
We encourage you to take your parking ticket with you depending on your destination. You can pay for parking inside the DMA or at both exit lanes when leaving the garage. Parking ticket validation is only available inside the DMA or at the Nasher (physical parking ticket must be presented).
 
Where are the pay machines located? 
There is one pay machine located near the Guest Services Desk inside the DMA on Level 1. Two pay machines are located at both exit lanes of the garage. 
 
Will the parking machines accept both cash and credit card transactions?
All pay machines will support cash and credit card transactions. We encourage the use of credit card transactions.  
 
Can I pre-pay or reserve my parking in the DMA Garage?
No.
 
How late can I leave my car in the DMA Garage?
Exit access to the garage ends at 9:00 p.m. 
 
If I pay for parking or get my ticket validated at the DMA or the Nasher, how long do I have before I need to exit the garage? 
Validated parking tickets can be used until the garage closes at 9:00 p.m.
 
Can I still park at the garage if I am not visiting the DMA or the Nasher? Can I pay at the machine inside the Museum?
Parking is payable at the parking machines located at both exit lanes of the garage. The pay machine inside the DMA is only accessible if you have reserved your free General Admission ticket for the Museum.
 
Who do I contact if I have a problem with parking?
If you have a problem at the time of exiting, use the parking machine intercom to be connected with DMA Security or call 214-922-1266. If inside the Museum, please visit the Guest Services Desk or email guestservices@DMA.org for assistance.
 
What is the grace period for parking if I enter by mistake?
If entering the parking garage in error, the first 10 minutes are free of charge.
 
What happens if I’m unable to exit (unable to pay, gate is broken, or other)?
Use the parking machine intercom located at the pay machines to be connected with DMA Security or call 214-922-1266.
 
What if I’ve lost my parking ticket? 
If you are exiting, use the parking machine intercom to be connected with DMA Security or call 214-922-1266. If you are inside the Museum, please visit the Guest Services Desk or email guestservices@DMA.org for assistance. 
 
Who do I contact if I would like to request a parking refund?
For parking assistance after your visit, please contact guestservices@DMA.org.
 

Member FAQs

Can I reserve my parking for the DMA Garage in advance?
No.
 
How will automated parking work for DMA Members?
At Entry 
  • With Parking QR Code: Drive up to the entry ticket machine and scan your parking QR code printed on your membership card. You do not need to take a parking ticket.
  • Without Parking QR Code: Drive up to the entry ticket machine and press the red button for a ticket. Once the ticket is pulled, the gate will open for garage access. Remember to take your parking ticket with you and have it validated at the Guest Services Desk on Level 1 inside the Museum.  
At Exit
  • With Parking QR Code: Pull up to the pay machine at the garage exit and place parking QR code below the scanner to be read. 
  • Without Parking QR Code: Pull up to the pay machine and place the validated ticket barcode below the scanner to be read. Once validated ticket is scanned, the screen will display $0 is owed and you can exit. 
 
Is there a dedicated members exit lane?
No.
 
My membership has expired, but can I still park for free?
Yes, please take your parking ticket to the Guest Services Desk inside the Museum on Level 1. A Guest Services Associate will validate your parking ticket at the time of your membership renewal. You will receive your new DMA Member cards with your new parking QR code within four weeks.
 
I'm a current member. Will I get new membership cards to access free parking?
All members will receive new cards with parking QR codes. If you plan on visiting the Museum prior to receiving your new cards, please visit the Guest Services Desk to have your parking ticket validated. You may also email members@DMA.org or call 214-922-1247 to make arrangements ahead of your visit. 
 
Can I use my DMA Member card to let the car behind me into the garage?
No.
 
Can I use my old membership card to enter and exit the DMA Garage without paying?
Expired membership cards cannot be used to enter the garage. When you enter the garage, please take a parking ticket and go to the Guest Services Desk on Level 1 inside the Museum for parking ticket validation.
 
Can my friend borrow my DMA Member card to park?
No. Membership parking benefits are nontransferable. 
 
If I have to pay to exit, how do I get a reimbursement?
For parking assistance after your visit, please contact members@DMA.org or call 214-922-1247.
 
If I renew my membership, how quickly will I be able to use my card to access free parking?
You should receive your new membership cards in four weeks.
 
What if I scan my DMA Member card and am unable to exit? 
If you are exiting, use the parking machine intercom to be connected with DMA Security or call 214-922-1266. If you are inside the Museum, please visit the Guest Services Desk on Level 1 for assistance. 
 
What if I forget my DMA Member card?
Take a parking ticket at entry and then go to the Guest Services Desk on Level 1 for parking ticket validation.
 
What if my membership card isn't scanning at the entrance?
Take a parking ticket at entry and then go to the Guest Services Desk on Level 1 for parking ticket validation.
 
Can I use my membership card to park in the garage if I am not visiting the DMA or the Nasher? 
Yes, during normal garage hours.
