About the Online Collection

Welcome to the latest version of the DMA’s Online Collection. The objects contained in this database represent the Dallas Museum of Art’s entire accessioned collection of over 24,000 works of art from all cultures and time periods, spanning 5,000 years of human endeavor.

The DMA’s Online Collection is a work in progress, and new content updates occur every week. Although all measures have been taken to ensure the accuracy of the information cited on this website, our research is ongoing and therefore may not be current or complete. We are committed to continuing to improve this information and will revise and update knowledge about these objects as it becomes available.

Images in the Online Collection

Through a generous grant from the O'Donnell Foundation, the DMA is in the process of digitizing our entire collection. The images on the website are therefore also evolving, and are being updated regularly. We have chosen to post all available images until new photography becomes available.

The Dallas Museum of Art is fully committed to respecting the intellectual property rights of others. We have made every effort to ensure that the reproduction of all content on the pages of the DMA website and other digital publications is done with the full approval of the copyright owners. The Museum also recognizes its responsibility to provide access to the images of its encyclopedic collection of material culture. The thumbnail images on the DMA site are posted under fair use guidelines and adhere to the AAMD guidelines for thumbnail size.

The DMA is currently, and with due diligence, undertaking the ongoing research of copyright-protected works, orphan works, and other works without any clear or immediately discoverable copyright restrictions. The DMA asserts that illustrating such orphan works online may be an effective way to discover copyright holders. The Museum may, in appropriate circumstances, remove, disable, or terminate access to any material on or linked to or from this site that it suspects might be infringing upon a third party's intellectual property rights or other rights.
