Digital Storytelling with Heritage Makers

Join us this month as Linda Kadel, representing Heritage Makers, joins us for an informative view of how you can share your proud heritage with friends and other members of your family through words and photos. You can show these treasures as Storybooks, Cards, Posters, Calendars, and other ways, as well as archive your information online to protect and backup your precious data.

Before the meeting, Linda invites everyone to go into her website and sign up for a free basic account, upload some pictures, and play around with the Studio 2.0 system. (be sure to view the Studio 2.0 Webinar Tutorial...it's ease of use and results are really impressive!)

If you do genealogy, scrapbooking, photography, or any other sort of collecting, then this presentation is one you won't want to miss!

A little bit about Linda and the company:

Linda is an independent consultant for Heritage Makers. This company has only been in business for a couple of years and is located in Salt Lake City. They have used any profits to update and enhance the system to make it better and easier to use.

They're not just another digital-photo album business, but the next step in scrapbooking. Their vision is based on building lasting legacies of family heritage. What Ms. Kadel found out is that everyone has a story to tell and they only need the vehicle to tell that story. So often we know our story, but our children and grandchildren do not know that story. Heritage Makers is the vehicle that allows you to preserve that story and pass it down from generation to generation.

Using the Heritage Makers system, their online publishing and creative center, they can make and publish several sizes of storybooks, cards and family folds, posters, calendars, and 12 x 12 pages. They use a drag and drop interface that is very easy to use. Their customers can choose from pre-built templated projects or enjoy the flexibility of building their own template using the most advanced publishing system on the web!

Some of the features included in each of our storybooks are: Personalaized covers, archival-quality paper, sewn/linen-reinforced binding, professional digital color printing, 21 page standard, expandable to 99 total pages, and our Heirloom Assurance (if your project become damaged or worn out, you may send it back for a replacement at half price).

C's Pizza has provided us with several gift certificates for our member-only raffle at the general meeting. We will probably try to distribute these over a couple of months.

Next Month: TBA

Golden Oldies

Image: Golden turntable Also, did you know that the DMA is approaching a third century? We didn't until Gary Turner mentioned it. And he should know since he's been here for most of that time.

So to celebrate, we are planning a Thirty Three and a Third party. Details are to be finalized but the plan is for a picnic, perhaps pot luck, with DMA providing the hotdogs and hamburgers. We'll be looking for folks to help with the planning committee so if you are interested, let Gary know.

Reason for Changes

DMA Trustees have been struggling to provide adequate facilities for our monthly General Membership meetings. Both UD and WSU presented challenges. We have been searching for a location that is comfortable for our members, room enough for all attendees, offers free parking, equipped with audio, visual, and internet, and still affordable for the organization. HHAF Hall meets all qualifications. Apple-Dayton meets here regularly.

April was our trial month and it went well. We have reserved the Warrior Room for the coming year.

All are welcome. The meetings start at 7:00 p.m. Guests are always welcome.
